the other perspective

it feels like this sometimes

i don't count the number of people that has told me how lucky i am,being accepted into usm..
about how easy my life is,not having to bring 2-3luggages,take buses or planes for hours, having to leave their families...all for the sake of education and a brighter future...
there's too many of them...
no one really thought about the downside of it though..
the things i'll be missing, the places i might never visit, the things that you can learn beyond the walls of the universities...
the feeling is different, going to the university that you grew up seeing...you feel like..'what's so special about usm?'...
the impression that people has on you,it's no different than your friends' opinions on 'how lucky you are'...
it can be quite frustrating at times...your form6 friends would think that you're out enjoying life on the island, going places with your new campus friends and occasionally go home and relax and recharge youself...then your campus friends would think that since you grew up in this island, you've probably been to every corner of Penang and may even be bored of these places...so they don't bother to ask you to join them on their little trips out of campus...
so...not surprisingly,i don't go out much...so stop assuming that i'm having a blast here...my new life is not much different than my form6 life...or my form5 life...
i spent most of my time either in usm or at home...don't go out unless it's necessary to do so.
i'm ashamed to admit this, but i don't think i can be qualified as a Penangite...i don't know a lot of things about this island actually...
famous delicacy/dishes/food besides laksa, char koay teow and tambun pneah? i don't know..a lot of things taste good to me,so i'm not the right person to answer this question.
what interesting sites do we have in Penang? besides the obvious kekloksi, penang hill, padang kota lama, batu ferringhi, gurney, youth park, botanical garden, p.ramlee's house and that antique blue house that i can't recall the name...i don't know.
what are the fun things we can do here?i honestly don't know...

then comes the holidays...of course, everyone of my campus friends balik kampung to their respective states and my school friends comes backto the island...

excited?...obviously...

you would think that i'd be going out with them and do some catching up and stuff...imaginations are always better than reality...

they're all either busy spending time with their families, busy hanging out with their other friends, busy finishing their assignments, busy revising for tests, or busy resting at home...

and when we finally do hang out...well...i wouldn't call it 'hanging out'...we barely spend anytime to actually talk to each other...

and before you know it,it's the end of holidays and everyone goes back to their universities...

it's different studying in a different state...you'll always feel wanted wherever you go,especially when you come home...your parents are delighted to see you, your relatives would want to meet up with you, your friends always calls to ask you out...when you're in campus, your new friends would ask you to join them to visit places around the campus etc...

this is one of the things you guys overlooked when you saw the online 'letter of rejection' from usm and acceptance to a university elsewhere...
..so there you go...this is how 'lucky' i am...
we're often unsatisfied with what we're given that we start craving for things that are not meant to be ours...if only we take some time to reflect and weigh out the good and bad points of everything,'cause nothing in this life is 100% good nor 100% bad,no?
i'm not being melodramatic here...all the exagerated expressions has actually been filtered out before hand...
this is at the 'bacaan umum' level...

yeah.. good and bad comes together.
    think this in another way,

being out from penang-means we'll miss the chance to celebrate occasions with our families.
    for eg: my grannie's birthday
we just cant attend due to commitments.
Worst still, during CNY, we don't get to stay as we like. our CNY break is like.. only a week. means we can only stay till CNY day 2.

    and btw,
    as for me,
    food choices, so narrowed down.
transportation, We don't get to bring car to uni. And it's effin hard to get the stickers.
so, not much of going places since we all kena bergantung kpada kereta sapu. My life in UUM is just inside the campus itself. No where to go~~
Tak ada canggih canggih punya city. =D
