13 going on 30.
definitely,maybe.
27 dresses.
the proposal.
50 first dates.
just like heaven.
hitch.
you've got mail.
going the distance.
10 things i hate about you.
the ugly truth.
bridget jones' diary.
never been kissed.
music and lyrics.
love actually.
no reservations.
enchanted.
made of honor.
.
the list goes on...
.
gotta love rom-coms..
.
it's probably the only thing that gives us faith that true love is out there.
though i doubt it,
it's nice to watch nevertheless...
.
these stories,
they won't happen in real life.
never..
think about it..
you loved him
he loved you
for some reason you guys broke up
years went by
you're still thinking about him
one day
you bump into each other
you're single,
but he's already got himself a new,
hot girlfriend
with an s-line body and long, slender legs
then something happened in between
and he suddenly decided that he loves you more than his girlfriend
dumps her
then comes knocking on your door
you open the door
and he greeted you with a deep
passionate kiss
and said
'i love you. come back to me.'
.
....LOL.
.
fairytale. this is.
.
us
women
we're so brain-washed with all these nonsense that we're still, foolishly, believe in happy endings.
when we're young and innocent,
our parents told us stories about handsome princes that comes sweeping poor little damsels-in-distress's feet off the ground
gave them crowns,
make them princesses
and live happily ever after.
as we grew up
we found out that these stories are in fact,
lies.
made up by companies that aims to keep these little girls in their pretty little perfect world with ponies and castles and prince charmings everywhere you look.
.
depressed.
.
then in comes a magic potion we call 'romantic-comedies'.
the made-up stories that contains characters that we can actually relate to,
compared to snow white,rapunzel,ariel,jasmine,cinderella,aurora.
.
sure,
they all tell a different story
have different characters
took place in different settings
but they all have the same endings.
'and they live happily ever after.'
just like those fairytales.
and the hopes and dreams of marrying a man that loves you and have beautiful children and live a happy 'ever ever after' life that we women once had,
revived.
.
holding on to that dream,
that little pinch of pixie dust bestowed upon us,
we started searching for that 'one man' that we believe is born to be with us.
men may break their fragile little hearts,
took advantage of them,
then let them down,
make them cry,
hurt their feelings,
ruin their lives.
but none of them,
gives up finding for their Mr.Right.
.
they wait.
until the time's right,
and he comes knocking on her door with a bouquet of roses,
a box of chocolates,
a diamond ring,
and The Line:'will you marry me?'
.
i envy them,
those women that have this kind of faith on something so abstract and uncertain.
.
i don't know why,
i just don't have that.
i can't understand why would you let yourself go through all that trouble
only to end up in a contract with a person
and living together,
tolerate each other's bad habits,
make babies,
support the child and yourselves,
suddenly becomes a resposibility that you have to take on.
no exception.
.
are we all born into this world for the sole purpose of maintaining our population?
behind all these sayings that we're improving the quality of living on Earth by nurturing new scientists and entrepreneurs that have the potential to make a scientific breakthrough, cure cancer, stop extinction, and make the world a better place.
.
hmm.
i'll just stick to my decision to stay out of relationships...
figure things out as i live through each day.
.
maybe one day i'll have that dream too
marry,
have kids.
but for now,
...naaahhhh~~~~
i have rom-coms to keep me company
good enough. :)
