my teacher asked me,'who do you look up to?'
i say,'my mummy.'
she then asked,'and why is that?'
i answered,'because she gave birth to me and cook nice food.'
...i don't remember what i answered, but like all little girls,i must have said something like that too.
.
then i got older,
changed schools,
and a teacher asked me the same question again.
'class, i want you to stand up and tell me you're name, interest, ambition and you're idol when it's your turn.'
and again, i stood up, state my name, interest, ambition, idol.
idol?
'...my idol is my mother, because she brought me up and is willing to withstand my nonsense.'
at least,i think that's what my teenage self said.
.
when you're young,
the world seem so big and foreign.
the only thing you have are your toys and pacifier and bottle.
the only people you know is the big man that comes walking in and out of that big door that seems to be locked most of the time and the lady that kept saying 'say...mammmma?..dddaaaddda?' as she carries you in her arms.
then you thought, wow.
how does she knows when i'm hungry,
when i've peed/pooped myself,
when i want my pacifier that fell off my crib.
does she know magic?
.
then you grew.
learnt more things, seen more people.
you learnt that in life,
nobody's perfect,
and everyone makes mistakes, one way or another.
nobody has life all figured and planned out.
so if that's the case,
why do i still need to
pick a person to idolize?
.
sometimes we get so confused that we try to be what our idol is.
.
is this necessary?
.
not that i discriminate people with idols,
i just don't get why do they need someone to look up to,while not taking that passion they have on their idols,
and put it into themselves instead.
why not make yourself an 'idol'.
.
perhaps it's because i don't have much faith in things.
to me, i don't see the point of admiring other people for the success they've had.
i can be successful as well.
i can be confident.
so why not spend less time keeping up with how much money your idol currently makes
and what interview she's in,
and focus on what do YOU want to be,
how successful do YOU want to be.
'cause let's face it, there's really only one secret to success.
vision+hardwork+perseverance+a pinch of good luck.
you don't need to ask bill gates, madonna, obama, mandela, donald trump,...or lady gaga.
they'll all say the same thing.
.
maybe i'm just selfish and have a huge ego,
but i just don't see the point to idolize anyone.
Ppl jealous of u again? *sigh*
