favourite thing #2

do you think, that all dogs go to heaven?
i do.
.
i love dogs.
the drooling,
the puppy dog eyes,
the panting,
the tail-wagging..
what's not to love?
.
they always find ways to get close and cozy with you..
let you run you hands across their soft, furry bodies..
slowwwly luring them towards their bellies..
i'll never understand why do they like their bellies to be rubbed,
but i'll rub them anyways :)
.
they don't need fancy cars
big houses,
expensive vacations overseas,
or branded clothes.
all they need,
is your tender loving care,
your eyes to tell them how much you love them,
your hugs,
kisses,
a squeaky,RM2.50 ball,
.
walks make them happy too!
be it a one hour walkathon across town,
or a five minutes stroll around the block.
a breath of fresh air
and little adventures,
discovering new scents that suddenly present on that same small bunch of grass they sniffed every few days...
thrilled.
.
unlike us humans
they don't care what you've said
what you've done
as long as you're nice to them today
and keep being nice to them
one day at a time
that's enough.
.
maybe they did something wrong,
made you angry.
scolded them.
maybe even hurt them.
but as the sun sets,
and rise again,
they put those pain they felt behind,
and greets you with a wagging tail
a smile
a lick on the face
and hope that you put all that bad memories you had with them behind too.
and love them more than ever today.
'cause they certainly love you now, more than they did before.
.
through good and bad times
rain or shine
no matter what shitty day you've had
everything seems okay
as you drive through the front gate
and see their sleepy faces
tired from all that house guarding.
see their faces lit up as you step out of your car
and slip those chains off their sore necks
and pat their heads.
.
the way they wouldn't give you back the ball you threw,in a game of fetch
they made you chase after them,
rejoice when you got tired of chasing
and failed to retrieve it.
cheeky,
they trotted by you over and over,
pompously chewing the ball in their mouths.
happy.
but as you crawl into the house,
tired.
they saw you leave.
and seemed to lose interest in that squeaky, green little ball that everyone was chasing after 10minutes ago
instead,
they laid their bodies down in front of that same window they always laid in front of,
and watched what goes on inside the house
and when are you going to go out and accompany them once more.
.
the way they force their bodies to fit in the small little space available on your lap
curled and snuggled up to you.
unknowingly begging you to spend more time with them.
and as you stroke their fur,
their bodies,relax.
slowly,
drifted into the realm of subconciousness
you suddenly realise how quiet it is
the worries,
pressure.
doesn't exist.
not here.
not now.
.
recharged.
both of you.
before the next day begins
and everything starts all over again.
.
so do all dogs go to heaven?
yeah,
i like to think so.
they certainly should.
